I just finished watching Stories We Tell from Sarah Polley. It’s really great, definitely watch.
Mick’s capacity to love and forgive is really moving and also a little heartbreaking. Harry’s attitude about the project made me revile him. To think that the story was only his is despicable.
Ok maybe (definitely) not at its worst but oh my god I hate this article.
C-Sections May Boost Child’s Risk of Obesity
First of all, the study looked at obesity rates of adults who were born via c-section so it has nothing to do with childhood obesity. But that’s a popular buzzword right now so let’s just make that the headline anyway.
The study does not prove a cause-and-effect relationship between C-sections and obesity, however.
It’s possible that other factors not taken into account by the study, such as whether the mother was obese or had gestational diabetes, could explain the link.
In the new study, the researchers reviewed information from 15 previous studies that collected data on individuals’ method of delivery when they were born, as well as their body mass index (BMI) in adulthood.
Yowch. Strike three.
So, no indication of why the c-section took place was factored into the study, and they measured obesity by BMI alone.
Mmhmm. Ok. Seems like a really great and informative study that definitely needs reporting on urgently.

Should a cover be required for breastfeeding in public?
photographer Yume Cyan has been shooting some magical long exposure photographs of fireflies in a forested area around Nagoya City, Japan. By keeping the camera’s shutter open at a low aperture Cyan captures every bioluminescent flash of each insect resulting in dotted light trails that criss-cross the frame.
We never get tired of fireflies.
If he was really wearing that hat, I think she’s better off without him.
